Same rolls as banjo?

Post by Austin on Fri May 30, 2008 9:19 pm

I don't play Dobro, but I'm thinking about it. What I'd like to know is, do you play the same rolls on a Dobro as on a banjo? Or will they be different?

Thanks,

I'm sure you use some of the same rolls, and the dobro has the same fingerings as banjo, on five of the strings anyway. But I don't think one can adapt "hard driveing bluegrass banjo" to dobro. For one thing, you don't play as many notes, and do more molidiec stuff and lots of really cool slides! Smile Cool

(Note, I don't actully know what I'm talking about when it comes to dobro, I'm just saying what I think I know.) Smile Tongue Big Smile

It uses a slide, so there would be no fingerings, right?

Yeah, I guess the would actully be sliderings or something. Laughing But, you can always turn the bar back and forth when different chords need it.
